Personal profile

Dr Patricia Prado is Senior Lecturer in Business Ethics. Her recent research has investigated how structures, institutions and relationships support or undermine sustainable and resilient agrifood global value chains, and how this information can be used to support decision making for enhanced UK food security. She has focused on the governance of soy supply chains with fieldwork carried out in Brazil, strengthening scholarly networks and collaboration between Latin American and UK academic and non-academic agrifood stakeholders. Through this collaboration, she has been invited to be an Associate Professor of the Postgraduate Programme in Information Science at the Federal University of Para (UFPA), Brazil.

Patricia has progressed her international teaching experience at the UG and PG levels, particularly MBAs, in areas related to sustainability, management and innovation. She currently plays a leading role in the signature ‘Responsible Business’ area and is involved in developing new modules for the new programmes on the Business and HRM and Business Management. Patricia is keen to discuss PhD research proposals involving sustainable supply chains and responsible business models, with a particular interest in the food sector.

Prior to her academic career, Patricia has had business experience in implementing innovation and knowledge management processes in large companies such as Petrobras, in the energy sector.

Research interests

My research interests lie in the area of sustainability and innovation, particularly looking at (i) ethical and sustainable practices in supply chains and responsible business models, and (ii) governance of agrifood global value chains and sustainable food systems. With a qualitative approach, my empirical interests involve Latin America/Brazil, emerging commodities in the Amazon region, agroecology, and organic production (not exclusively). I have experience and great interest in interdisciplinary research.
