Action Relay is a collaboration between The NewBridge Project and Wunderbar, launching as part of Wunderbar Festival 2011. Throughout the exhibition, NewBridge Space will host week-long residencies for seven artists or artist groups. During their week each artist will develop new work to be performed in a series of one-off evening events. Following each performance, all the equipment and props used will be left in the gallery for subsequent artists to interact and work with. The show will evolve as an ad-hoc and multidisciplinirary series, engaging artists and viewers with a progression of immediate reactions to events held in previous weeks. As part of the Action Relay project, I created and performed 'It's my party and I'll Skype if I want to'. About the piece and the company: mouth to mouth are a group of globally dispersed performing artists who utilise Skype technology as a tool for performance. Founded in 2005, members of the collective are based in the UK, Ireland, Korea, Switzerland, Bosnia, Italy, China, Spain, Germany and Portugal. For Action Relay, mouth to mouth will respond to the potentially chaotic space left behind by previous artists who have inhabited the gallery, hosting a party on Friday 18th of November during which many of the international guests will be in attendance via Skype. Interested in the immersive and chaotic nature of party atmospheres, mouth to mouth will explore the discord, uncertainty and risk of failure that can be common to a party experience. The party will be hosted by Kate Craddock (co-artistic director of mouth to mouth) live in the space with the other mouth to mouth guests and hosts being projected onto the walls and surfaces in the gallery.
